According to Center for Disease Control CDC between 1 and 4 million Americans suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). They are seriously impaired, at least a quarter are unemployed or on disability because of CFS. 40% of people in the general population who report symptoms of CFS have a serious, treatable, previously unrecognized medical condition Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a complicated disorder characterized by extreme fatigue that doesn't improve with bed rest and may worsen with physical or mental activity. Unlike flu (influenza) symptoms, which usually subside in a few days or weeks, the signs and symptoms of CFS can last much longer. They may come and go frequently with no identifiable pattern Chronic fatigue syndrome may precipitate after an infection, such as a cold or viral illness or after a time of great stress. It can also come on gradually without a clear starting point or obvious cause.

Women are diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome far more often than men are. Chronic fatigue syndrome is a flu-like condition that can drain your energy and, sometimes, last for years. People previously healthy and full of energy may experience a variety of signs and symptoms.

Conventional approach

Psycological councelling (It's all in your head type approach), rehabilitation with physical therapy and exercise specialist are the common ways of managing chronic fatigue syndrome. Other professionals like sleep therapist or dietition can also be added to the list of this multidisciplinary approach. The patient ussually has to learn to just live with it once all elase has failed to completley relieve the misery of the chronic fatigue patient.

How we approach chronic fatigue syndrome

At Angel Longevity Medical Center we know that the fatigue, pain, discomfort and depression you may be feeeling are not all in your head. These do have an underlying cause and we can help you identify that and then treat that. This way we not only treat it but reverse the condition by increasing your energy and vitality.

Diet Plays a key role in making a difference

If you have fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue, what you eat will make a huge difference in how you feel. A diet high in saturated fats and refined vegetable oils will exacerbate pain, while the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish and flaxseed oil will help alleviate it. Likewise, eating lots of refined carbohydrates will worsen your condition, whereas slow-burning carbs (foods rich in fiber) give your body the sustained source of energy it needs.

We also evaluate our patients for food allergies, which are an often overlooked but frequent cause of fatigue and pain.

Natural Treatments Can Alleviate Depression and Insomnia

Many patients with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue suffer from depression. They also tend to have low levels of the neurotransmitter serotonin, which plays a crucial role in regulating mood. In addition to contributing to depression, low levels of serotonin can cause the sensation of pain to be greatly heightened.

At the Angel Longevity Medical Center we use several natural supplements that boost serotonin levels, improve mood, and relieve pain. St. John's wort, SAMe, and 5-HTP are far safer than Prozac and other prescription antidepressants and are backed by solid research, not to mention the positive experiences of our patients.
