Chelation comes from the Greek word "chelate" which means claw and apparently refers to the alleged removal of plaque and calcium deposits from arteries and veins by EDTA (ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid). Chelation involves an intravenous infusion of a powerful antioxidant EDTA and other nutrients, given over a 2-1/2 to three hour period, weekly for 20-30 weeks, then once every four weeks for ten months. Most generally, all chelators are considered to be removers of heavy metals toxicity. EDTA is the only chelator that has been used over the last 50 years to also reverse the effects of arterial plaque, thus preventing further strokes, and / or heart attacks.
